Canary islands is almost too pretty for words…
We landed in Tenerife late at night, but luckily for us, our four
hour flight was fun, full of laughter and singing for our birthday girl Riri.
When we woke up on Friday, it was surprisingly chilly so we decided
to go on a cruise with our rented car to explore our surroundings. By
mid-afternoon, the sun decided to make an appearance – Bikinis on, direction
beach! Our Airbnb was 5 minutes away from one of the most renowned beaches in
Tenerife south: Playa de los Cristianos. We soaked the sun up and had some
sangrias by the beach. Also, a visit to Spain wouldn’t be the same without
having a taste of the famous paella! One piece of advice: El Rincón Del Arroz.
We returned to our apartment to freshen up before a night of birthday celebrations – after all, that was
the purpose of the whole trip. A local advised us to hit a popular beach club
called Papagayo in the heart of Playa de las Americas, where we danced the night away.
Playa del Duque is a must do as one of the nicest beaches on the
island. We tanned on the golden sands and swam in the clear blue sea from 11am
to 5pm. Thankfully; I now have tan lines again, after losing them in the Land
of No Sunshine.
Post beach – food time: La Torre del Mirrador is
ideal for a view of the sunset that will take your breath away.
As they say, Sunday Funday! It was cloudy and foggy which made
beach out of the question, so we played tourist and drove around the entire
island, the highlight of which was El Teide volcano. It’s the highest point in Spain as well as the highest
point above sea level among the islands within the Atlantic Ocean. It’s also
one breathtaking vista – and you know what 4 girls are like with a
picture-perfect view!
Back on the coast, we made our way to one of the most beautiful
towns in Tenerife: La Laguna. The historic town center is
a gem with its narrow streets, colorful houses, inviting bars and small shops!
We made a pit-stop for some
more sangrias, of course. ☺
Monday was our last day, and a women’s holiday wouldn’t be
complete without a little bit of shopping – direcciòn Zara!
With all of its beauty, Tenerife is certainly a top destination
within the Canary Islands, and is the perfect place to switch off and enjoy the
sun.
